Step 1: measure your dog's neck circumference
How to measure correctly:
- Use a flexible measuring tape.
- Measure around the widest part of the neck (just above the shoulders).
- Do not pull the measuring tape too tight.
- Make sure you can fit two fingers between the neck and the measuring tape.
No measuring tape? Use a piece of string and measure it afterward with a ruler.
Step 2: add extra space to the measurement
Rule of thumb:
- Small dogs: +1 to 2 cm
- Medium dogs: +2 cm
- Large dogs: +2 to 3 cm
This prevents the collar from being too tight.
How tight should a collar be?
